The event organizers were thrilled to have Tony and Emmy Award-winning actor and comedi- an Martin Short as guest performer for the evening. Mr. Short did not disappoint and entertained guests with his legendary hilarity. Over the past 15 years A Special Evening has garnered approximately 2000 sponsors and raised more than 2 mil- lion. All of the proceeds from the event directly benefit LaunchAbility. For over 5 decades LaunchAbility formerly Special Care Career Services has been expand- ing worlds for adults with disabilities and the families who care for them. Many of its programs are the launch points to self-re- liance and poise for these adults with diverse abilities ultimately becoming the inspiration for the name LaunchAbility. The luncheon featured Academy Award-winning actress producer director best-selling author and childrens advocate Goldie Hawn. Ms. Hawn dazzled the guests with her bubbly and jovial personality while recounting the work she is doing to help create education programs that support the social and emotional de- velopment of children through The Hawn Foundation. The event celebrates the power and impact of women in our community provides substantial support for the programs and services at JFS and helps grow the agencys mission of pro- viding professional effective and afford- able mental health and social services that promote lifelong self-sufficiency and well-being for anyone in need re- gardless of religion race ethnicity or ability to pay. Event Chairs Esther Meyers Kimberly Ross Linda Garner Kim Chapman and Caryn Kboudi Keynote speaker Goldie Hawn LEGACY OF LOVE BENEFIT AND FASHION SHOW The Womens Auxiliary to Childrens Medical Center Plano hosted their fourth annual Legacy of Love Benefit and Fashion Show on April 7 2016 at Mercedes-Benz of Plano. Over 400 guests attended this sold-out benefit that featured spring fashions along with drinks and bites from eight no- table DFW restaurants. The honorary chairs for this years red carpet event were former Dallas Cowboy DarrenWoodson and his wife Tiffany. Fashion show emcees includedWFAAs Chief Meteorologist Pete Delkus and former news anchor Rikki Ragland. Net proceeds from the Legacy of Love Benefit and Fashion Show went directly to Childrens Medical Center Plano. Guests donations surpassed the nights goal by raising nearly 200000 which will be used for patient support equipment and other program needs such as pet therapy. Other programs funded by the Womens Auxiliary include music therapy Center for Pediatric Eating Disorders the Childrens Medi- cal Center Research Institute at UT Southwestern and the Pauline Allen Gill Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders.
