Jennifer Pickens was looking forward to another year of teaching but she didnt even make it to the first day of school. I was diagnosed with soft-tissue sarcoma she says and needed chemotherapyrightawaythenmonthsofradiationthensurgery.Insteadofbeingintheclassroom she was in and out of the hospital. My immune system was knocked out. I was terribly sick Jennifer explains. No one wants to be hospitalized but I knew the nurses at Baylor Medical Center at McKinney would help me through it. Now one year cancer-free Jennifer divides her time between teaching and volunteer work for a Baylor cancer support group. I love using my experience to help others.
