GoodLifeFamilyMag.com MAY | JUNE 2017 79 goodTIMES DALLAS WOMEN’S FOUNDATION GRANT TO HOPE’S DOOR-NEW BEGINNING CENTER Dallas Women’s Foundation (DWF) awarded Hope’s Door-New Be- ginning Center $300,000 to assist the agency in continuing to serve all individuals and families affected by family violence. Hope’s Door and New Beginning Center merged in September 2016 to better facilitate services throughout the North Texas area and offer more comprehensive programs to clients. Hope’s Door-New Beginning Center services include shelter and counseling and educational pro- grams at six locations in both Garland and Plano. The DWF is the only foundation in North Texas with a unique focus on women and girls. Since inception, they have granted more than $32 million and currently grant $4.4 million each year. A separate Batterers Intervention and Prevention Program is also located in Garland. HEROES AND HANDBAGS BENEFITING HEROES FOR CHILDREN Heroes for Children (HFC) hosted the 12th annual Heroes and Handbags designer handbag auction and brunch on March 31 at The Ritz-Carlton, Dallas. More than 474 guests attended and raised $287,600. Since 2005, HFC has helped alleviate families’ worries, giving them comfort and a brief respite from the everyday challeng- es of fighting cancer and care giving.
